Veterans often face significant challenges in accessing the services
and resources
available to them, including their Veterans Service Officer, VA
Centers, healthcare, local
employment assistance, housing support, and mental health
services. The fragmentation
of these resources across different organizations and government
agencies creates
barriers to effective support. To address this issue, I developed
VAhelp.US, a
comprehensive digital platform designed to streamline access to
essential services for
veterans nationwide. By integrating a user-friendly interface with
multiple connections to
verified resources, my program is designed to allow veterans to
efficiently locate and
connect with the assistance they need. The program developed,
personalized
recommendations in order to enhance usability and effectiveness.
This paper discusses
the motivation behind the program, its development process, and its
potential impact on
improving veterans' quality of life. My goal is to bridge the gap
between veterans and the
support systems in place for them, ensuring that no one is left behind
in their transition to
civilian life.
Problem:
Veterans and others find it difficult to find these resources when
trying to search through
hundreds of web pages. With the volume of information on the world
wide web, it can get
overwhelming to find the information you need. I have been working
on a web site for
Veterans. www.VAhelp.us . On this site there are relevant links for
veterans to
access. Research has been done to provide quick access for the
veteran’s needs.
Background:
I have spent countless hours researching and working on what I
believe will be the one site
for veterans in this country to use. Each state will have direct links to
Veteran Service
Officers, Veteran Benefits, Locations to Veteran Health
Administration, Community Based
Outpatient Clinics, Every Veteran Centers for that state, National
Cemetery Administration
and useful links to the O*Net website.
Purpose:
I want to provide quick access to this information without the need to
go through searches
of multiple pages containing information they need.
Proposed Solution:
Quick access links to National web sites that provide essential
information and State
information for the Veterans Service Officer(s) and Benefits of the
Veterans Service.
Also relevant positions/jobs of particular industries. Specifically
Accommodations,
Agriculture, Arts and Entertainment, Companies Enterprises,
Construction, Corporate
Environments, Educational, Finance-Insurance, Government,
HealthCare, Information,
Manufacturing, Mining Quarrying, Professional. Real Estate,
Remediation, Retail Trade,
Transportation, Utilities , Wholesale Trade and Other Services.
On the left of the site, you will notice many different industries that
Veterans or anyone for
that matter, that can research jobs associated with that industry. For
example, if you click
on Construction, on the right are the reinvent positions for
construction. On the far right
are the latest job posting by O*Net.
Conclusion:
I have been working with many Veterans on the design and solution
of www.VAhelp.US.
They find this to be a very helpful website, which is what I am trying
to accomplish.
Why am I doing this? Because I want to give back to our heroes in
this country. My Dad
served in WWII, My brother served in Vietnam , my other brother and
sister both served in
the reserves. Myself, well this is my contribution. This site is of no
cost to anyone.
